Comic Book Tesseract - 2012.08.08
August is a month of bounty - and this week’s podcast is no exception.
In comics, Jason and Justin discuss four new #1 titles: Gambit, Archer & Armstrong, Idolized, and Anti. Also this week - Spider-men is emotionally rewarding, The Incredible Hulk eases off on the suck and Batman has a one-and-done with a new character that’s rumored to hopefully return in future issues. Plus, some comics news that’s likely to make heads turn.
In games, the guys discuss the Facebook game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, the upcoming MMORPG Guild Wars 2, a new PS2 emulator, Zombie Dice and 5 reasons you should play D&D.
The fall season of TV will be starting soon, and neither the Science Channel nor CW are resting on their laurels. Find out about the geek shows on those stations as well as what’s new on the geek-centric YouTube channels.
For those who prefer written word to the flashing screen, the new book Libromancer is out this week. Find out what the buzz is on this book and why Wired’s June issue is a must have for all the geek dads.
Lastly, the guys discuss how the tool set of life skills has changed over the years and how the Art of Manliness is helping young men leave the nest with the knowledge needed to succeed.
WHEW! And this is just the summary! Come and hear it all on this week’s Tesseract!

Comic Book Tesseract - 2012.08.01
As the one year anniversary of the podcast approaches, Justin and Jason look to emphasise more facets of geek-chic culture than have been previously. However, there’s still a lot of love given to comics, with Think Tank #1, Ultimate Spider-man #12, and Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe #1 getting the biggest nods this week. Many more books get honorable mentions for ending arcs, starting new ones or simply being awesome.
Justin gives his review of the non-collectable, deck building card game Dominion and gives some updates on the D&D Next playtest. The geek-centric YouTube channels Nerdist and Geek & Sundry are discussed as the burgeoning Internet-based television market begins to swell.
Movie news, TV viewing suggestions, and a Newcomers Guide to reading Green Lantern. All this AND EVEN MORE on this week’s Tesseract!
